Abstract:

A frequency domain theory for structural dynamic model error localization is applied to the damage detection problem. The localization theory is based on a transformation of the frequency response function matrix, and represents an exact solution for the location of the differences between two frequency response function models, given spatially complete data. The localization is performed at all frequencies in a chosen bandwidth, and therefore implicitly accounts for all modes of interest. Methods for coping with spatially incomplete data are explored analytically and in an experimental study of a composite beam with installed damage of known length. MM
