A thermal simulation program utilizing finite difference technique is developed to analyze the transient heat transfer problem of heating the Meals-Ready-to Eat MREsusing Flameless Ration Heaters. The simulation program is employed in evaluating the effects of changing various parameters on the thermal performance. It is suggested that the results from the program be checked with experiments conducted under controlled conditions in which the heater heat generation rate and the temperature profile in the food are carefully monitored under different operating conditions.
