Abstract:
The production of Natural Language Processing systems that have both good syntactic coverage and broad lexical coverage has been the purview of large research teams. This effort initiated an investigation of an approach at empowering the smaller researcher with a method of incorporating a broad coverage, domain independent, syntactic parser with a large, general lexicon. The approach uses a Principle- Based Parser, based on Chomskys Government-Binding Theory, and various on-line resources for lexical knowledge. This report outlines the tools, methods and results of the construction of the lexicon for the overall system.
