Abstract:
Thirty-One 130 scale model reinforced soil wall structures were subjected to the dynamic effects of a detonation buried in the backfill behind each wall. The tests were conducted on the Wright Laboratory Geotechnical Centrifuge. The objective of the test was twofold i to quantify the limits of random variation of test results obtained with the geotechnical centrifuge and, ii to investigate the effect of individual reinforced soil wall system components on overall wall system response to the blast loading. Each model was instrumented to record free field and wall panel pressures and acceleration data.
