The goal of this study was to determine if adherence to the Food Guide Pyramid guidelines, when combined with exercise, results in significant reductions in cardiovascular risk and enhancement in aerobic capacity VO2 max when compared to a regimen of exercise therapy alone. All subjects participated in a 90-day fitness improvement program.
