Abstract:

This program investigates the seemingly unusual behavior of single crystal airfoil materials. The fatigue initiation processes in single crystal SC materials are significantly more complicated and involved than fatigue initiation and subsequent behavior of a single macro crack in conventional, isotropic, materials.
