1 We have conducted extensive research work on the design and simulation of electronic analog circuits as basic building blocks for the VLSI implementation. This phase of the work is a little bit ahead of the schedule about 1 month than we originally planned in the proposal. This hardware design phase concurrent with the algorithm analysis and verification provided coherent work and ensured the quality of the analog VLSI design. 2 In order to benchmark the VLSI chips, a hardware prototype board is under design and construction. This board will be used to compare the performance of digital approach vs. analog approach, analog approach based on the standard off-the shelf components vs. analog customer-design VLSI approach. The board is now operating and it is under calibration. The board is designed with a 486 machine as a host.
