Abstract:

Under a global climate of increasing economic difficulties and declining defense budget, every opportunity for better use of available resources must be explored. The Worldwide Warehouse WWW Program is being developed as a solution for the excess inventory problem experienced by the Foreign Military Sales FMS countries. The rationale behind the program includes the idea of releasing resources tied to inactive inventory so those resources can be used to improve support and readiness of active inventory. The purpose of this study us to determine to what extent the WWW Program, as initially defined, is perceived by its intended customer the FMS Community as a solution that fulfills its requirements and expectations. In pursuing that objective, a survey involving 25 FMS countries was conducted to collect opinions, concerns, and suggestions pertaining to the WWW Program, hoping the results can be used in the final definition of a program better fitted to customers needs. The results show that some characteristics of the program are not to the entire satisfaction of the FMS countries surveyed. Also there are additional features that the potential customers would like to see as part of the program and that will increase satisfaction with the program and therefore participation in the program by FMS customers
