Abstract:

The hyperbolic frequency-modulated HFM waveform has been used in experimental and scientific low-frequency sonar systems because it possesses the pulse compression property and is Doppler-tolerant. This report presents a class of HFM waveforms that possess a flat spectrum, and as such is useful for the direct measurement of a target frequency response and the development of classification algorithms
