Abstract:

The Surveillance Systems Branch of the U.S. Coast Guard Research and Development Center RD Center and the Naval Undersea Warfare Center, New London Detachment NUWCNL had conducted an earlier study of the Coast Guard Computer Assisted Search Planning CASP programs southern Gulf Stream Florida Data FLDA environmental file. The study found errors in the FLDA environmental file data. The tasking for this project was to replace the corrupted old FLDA files with reconstructed new data files derived from data obtained in the original research by Nova University. The derived data files were created by merging Nova University Gulf Stream transect current data onto background data from Atlas of Pilot Charts. The data was then divided into 12 monthly sets, and verified for continuity and accuracy. The 12 new monthly FLDA data sets were then prepared for transfer to the Coast Guard Operations Systems Center OSC computer.
