Abstract:
The Intermediate and Alluvial Well Installation Report for Site 4, Explosive Washout Lagoons, Umatilla Depot Activity UMDA, Hermiston, Oregon, has been prepared for the U.S. Army Environmental Center USAEC under the Base Realignment and Closure BRAC Program. The report documents the methods used to install four intermediate wells and two alluvial wells at Site 4 and the hydrogeologic conditions encountered. The wells were installed to 1 further assess the stratigraphy beneath Site 4 2 assess the degree of interconnection between the basalt and the overlying alluvial sediments 3 document water quality within the intermediate zone and further delineate explosives and nitratenitrite contamination within the alluvial aquifer and 4 document horizontal and vertical groundwater flow patterns within the intermediate zone.
