A research paper addressing the future orientation of naval operational intelligence, given organizational changes mandated by Goldwater- Nichols, and changes in operational emphasis as contained in ...From the Sea. The paper reviews the theory and principles of war, operational art and operational intelligence, and incorporates the history of the office of naval intelligence, and the uses of operational intelligence by commanders in WWII.
