The characteristics of room temperature Er3YAG lasers at 1.644 microns end pumped by an Er3glass laser at 1.535 microns described. Low threshold and efficient operation was obtained for 0.5 and 1 Er3YAG. Similar studies were performed utilizing 0.7 Er3 3 Yb3, 1 Cr 3YSGG. Laser action of Er 3YSGG at 1.643 microns was achieved for the first time. Solid state lasers, Er3YAG1.64 microns, Er3YSGG1.64 microns.
