Abstract:

There were two major objectives of the workshop. The first objective was to introduce the revised driveability procedure which had been developed for current-technology vehicles, and to make minor modifications to the procedure. The second objective was to train novice raters, improve the skills of trained raters, and provide uniform interpretation of definitions associated with the procedure. Since the workshop was to be an educational experience rather than a source of driveability data, emphasis was placed upon exchange of information as opposed to data collection and analysis. The intent of the workshop was not to rate the raters, but to reduce the laboratory-to-laboratory variations in the application of the Revised CRC Cold-Start and Warmup Driveability Procedure and the related terminology
