Abstract:

This study compares the output of the upper-air quality control QC methods used by the Air Force Global Weather Central AFGWC with those of the National Meteorological Center NMC. AFGWC uses the new Upper-Air Validator NUAV, while NMC uses the Complex QC procedure for Rawinsonde Heights and Temperations CQCHT. This study identifies advantages, disadvantages, and added value of each QC scheme.
