Abstract:

The Ranger Anti-ArmorAnti-Personnel Weapon System RAAWS was investigated to determine its structural strength and fatigue life. The RAAWS is an 84-mm lightweight, shoulder-Fired recoilless weapon produced by FFV Ordnance, Sweden. The tube consists of a thin steel rifled liner overwrapped with a graphiteepoxy composite jacket. This investigation includes a finite element stress analysis, firing tests, laboratory strain and material property tests, and fatigue tests to determine the interim safe fatigue life for the weapon.
