The SOCRATES contamination-interaction code has been used to simulate the reactions between the space shuttle exhaust and the atmosphere at an altitude of 320 km. The investigation carries out the simulations for regions extending to 15 km from spacecraft. These simulations calculate the radiation from OD1 - OP3 photons as function of time for orientations of engine firing into the ram, perpendicular, and into the wake of the shuttle motion. The IRMA plotting program has been used to depict in color the time development of the shuttle plume.
