Purification of Gram Quantities of C60. A New Inexpensive and Facile Method
SOUTH CAROLINA UNIV COLUMBIA DEPT OF CHEMISTRY
Pagination or Media Count:
Described is an inexpensive and facile method for the purification of up to gram quantities Of C60. The procedure involves the application of a saturated toluene solution of crude fullerenes to a column containing NoritR-A alkaline decolorizing carbon or activated charcoal and silica gel 12 by weight. Within 37 min, the C60 purple band begins to elute from the column and the elution Of C60 is nearly complete within 1.2 h to afford 63 yield of a possible 75 Of C60 in extractable fullerenes with 98 purity.
