Abstract:

The United States Air Force USAF Strategic Air Command SAC has proposed to deactivate the SR-71 program currently operating as part of the 9th Strategic Reconnaissance Wings 9th SRW Mission at Beale Air Force Base AFB near Sacramento, California. This mission change is anticipated to take place conincident with the beginning of fiscal year 1990. An Environmental Assessment EA will be prepared to determine the significance and extent of potential impacts that may occur as a result of the proposed action. This EA is prepared in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969 NEPA, as stipulated in regulations promulgated by the Council on Environmental Quality CEQ 40 CFR 1500-1508, November 1978, and Air Force Regulation AFR 19-2.
