Abstract:

The ships of Military Sealift Commands Naval Fleet Auxiliary Force presently represent approximately half of the U.S. Navys Auxiliary inventory and their numbers are expected to rapidly grow in number over the next several years due to budgetary pressures and other reasons. Since it is inevitable that they will sail in harms way, for their protection and to provide greater battle group flexibility, they must be defensively armed....
