Abstract:

A set of four models is developed for estimating the size of Ada systems at intermediate points in a software development project. The motivation for the models is the need to take advantage of current information about the evolving Ada product to improve the estimate of system size. The models are based on successively more detailed design and implementation data. An empirical investigation using multivariate regression analysis was conducted on a set of twenty-one Ada subsystems. As more detail was incorporated into the models, a greater fraction of the variation in lines of code as measured by the coefficient of determination was explained....
