Low energy electron diffraction LEED and cyclic voltammetry were used to examine the surface structure of flame-annealed platinum I 00, II 0 and II 1 electrodes. Well-defined LEED patterns were obtained for these surfaces but only after heat treatment in vacuo at 400 deg C in order to remove surface contaminants. The cyclic voltammograms correspond to those expected for these low index platinum surface from prior studies....
