The unmanned test and evaluation of the Analox 0055S CO2 monitor for use in the standard U.S. Navy double-lock recompression chamber and the Analox carbon dioxide hyperbaric, 401A temperature,and 401B humidity monitors for use in U.S. Navy deep diving systemsDDS are presented. Tests were conducted under the auspices of the Navy Experimental Diving Unit to determine suitability for shore-based and shipboard Navy hyperbaric systems. Testing included standard engineering, design, safety, and human factor reviews. These reviews were followed by bench testing to various military standards and a simulated operational test of durability. Both CO2 monitors were evaluated as adequate for their intended U.S. Navy uses. The 401A Temperature Monitor functioned well except during extremes 30 deg of simulated shipboard tilt, where variances of up to 4-4 deg F were noted. The Analox 401B Humidity Monitor was also evaluated as acceptable in tests performed, however, the lack of a hyperbaric humidity standard prevented hyperbaric testing of this instrument.
