Abstract:

An archeological survey was conducted. The survey resulted in the identification of 28 cultural resources. Eighteen were recent burned houses or dumps, three were large prehistoric sites, three were non-significant historic sites, and three were not tested due to refusal of landowner. Geomorphic cores were taken in the project area resulted in dating Big Lake and Pemiscot Bayou to about 10,000 BP. Pollen reconstruction of these two cores suggests that the Hypsithermal was not as severe as had been previously thought.
