This report documents the effects of water Raman scattering activity in clear ocean waters for the visible spectrum. The mode of study is a Monte Carlo simulation utilizing the accepted physical properties of the water molecule and minimal amounts of suspended matter. This Raman scattering activity has a significant effect on the upwelling irradiance in air and on the properties of the submarine light field in the surface layers. At wavelengths greater than 500 nm the water Raman activity significantly affects the submarine light field at depth.
