Abstract:

For this report, we examined whether or not using a realistic job preview RJP in the Army recruiter training process would improve recruiter performance, retention, andor ability to deal with job stress. To this end, we 1 briefly describes Army recruiter training and the recruiting job itself, 2 describe how and why RPs work 3 consider whether RJPs would help in the Army recruiter training process and 4 discuss implementing and evaluating an Army recruiter RJP program. We conclude that RJPs could be quite useful in helping to retain and attract recruiters. However, our recommendation hinges on the Army 1 determining appropriate RJP outcomes, and 2 taking steps to reduce negative job features. Realistic job preview, Training, Socialization, Army recruiters.
