Abstract:

The Crew Requirements Definition System CRDS permits analysts and researchers to develop, examine, and modify crew designs in a timely, cost- effective manner. Designs may vary in terms of the-number and types of tasks to be performed, the number and types of personnel assigned to perform the tasks, the time-based task network, and the time required to perform each task. Since the CRDS is a fully computer-assisted task performance analysis tool, the effects of these variables can be examined without conducting field studies for each design alternative. This Users Guide begins with an overview of the CRDS. After providing instructions on how to install the CRDS on a personal computer and information on the user-software interface, the Users Guide describes the underlying rationale, capabilities, and features of the CRDS and gives annotated instructions for its use. To facilitate the users understanding of the capabilities of the CRDS, the Guide assists the user in developing, examining, and modifying one example problem and then thoroughly describes two additional sample problems. Crew design, Organizational concepts, Unit design, Computer- assisted aids. Army organizations.
