A modeling technique has been developed to account for interactions between load current and magnetic flux in an iron conductor. Such a conductor would be used in the active region of a normally conducting homopolar machine. Ibis approach has been experimentally verified and its application to a real machine demonstrated. Additionally, measurements of the resistivity of steel under the combined effects of magnetic field and current have been conducted.
