Dehalosilylation Reactions Involving E(SiMe3)3 and Ph2InCl. Synthesis and Molecular Structures of (Ph2InE(SiMe3)2) 2(E = P or As)

Combining PSiMe33 or AsSiMe33 With Ph2InCl in a 11 mole ratio results in the elimination of Me3SiCl via a dehalosilylation reaction to yield Ph2InPSiMe322 I and Ph2lnAsSiMe322 II, respectively. Both I and H crystallize in the monoclinic system but they are not isomorphous. Crystals of compound I belong to space group P2 sub onec a 10.6911, b 19.8212, c 11.5121 A, beta 113.341 deg, V 2239.88 A 3, and Dcalc. 1.324 g cm-3 for Z 2. Compound II crystallizes in space group P2 sub onen a 16.2481, beta 20.2851, c 13.8871 A, b 90.121 deg, V 4577.08 A3, and Dcalc. 1.423 g cm-3 for Z 4. Full-matrix least-squares refinement based on 2765 1 and 3625 H reflections with I3SigmaI, respectively, converged at R 0.038 R, 0.050 for I and R 0.040 Rw 0.048 for 11. The InP2 core of dimer I is planar whereas in dimer 11 the InAs2 ring is slightly puckered.
