Abstract:

The objective of this project was to study the impact of a 3 to 4 sewing-station carousel unit on apparel productivity, with special emphasis on the impact in a flexible Unit Production System environment. Upon installation the units operation was observed and analyzed. The following conclusions are drawn The unit is best suited for performing a series of sequential operations cost, production time and space savings are possible if the unit is used Installation costs are justified if the unit replaces at least two UPS stations Adoption of the unit is dependent upon ingenuity of production management and operational safety of the unit needs enhancement. The project has been completed.
