This report summarizes findings of an electric drive study contract conducted over a 2 year period. The study objective was to obtain and generate data required for evaluating electric drive components and systems in application to military combat vehicle propulsion systems. Major results were the development of three concepts using AC and DC motor systems. The primary conclusion of the study was that electric drives can provide improved vehicle performance with respect to conventional mechanical systems.
