The interpretation of the internal energy of formation as it applies to thermodynamics equilibrium calculations of gun propellants is clarified. The enthalpy of formation is compared to values of the internal energy at the standard pressure 0.1 MPa and references temperature 298.15 K, H deg DELTaHf, deg, U deg not f deg, and in most cases, for condensed phases, U deg H deg.
