Abstract:
Weather satellite case studies of synoptic and mesoscale weather effects in the Southern Hemisphere are described for each of the three major ocean basins. The material focuses on environmental effects of operational importance to ships at sea and in coastal regions. Each study comes to specific conclusions concerning the nature of the phenomenon and provides suggestions for further application in analysis and short-range forecasts.
