Abstract:
A liquid-solid chromatographic procedure for reproducibly measuring the levels of organic additives in compounded, uncured ethylene-propylene diene monomer rubber is described. The procedure, which uses a deactivated Porasil column with a tetrahydrofuranecyclohexane mobile phase and UV detection at 254 nm, has proved to be effective as a quality analysis program for transducer elastomers. Recommendations for avoiding potential problems with the system are also discussed.
