Abstract:

The purpose of this thesis is to analyze the feasibility of accrediting the JanusA combat model for the post-test modeling phase of an Army concept called Model-Test-Model. Specifically, tank engagement ranges collected from an operational field test are compared to similar ranges generated by simulation of the test in the JanusA combat model. An automated process is developed to convert position location data from the field test into JanusA format so that the simulation replicates the vehicles and routes used in the test. Means and distributions of tank engagement ranges are studied. The important conclusion of this thesis is that JanusA generates engagement ranges longer than those observed in the operational field test. Additionally, collection of test data must be improved for JanusA to be accredited for engagement range analysis of field tests.
