This symposium is a significant means of technology exchange of the Armys R and D program. It is designed to facilitate developeruser interface by joint participation. This annual event involves key personnel from all pertinent Federal agencies and provides a forum where users are given the opportunity to benefit from the perspectives of senior DOD leadership. This report provides supplemental proceedings from the symposium. The Synthetic Organic Chemicals Survey SOCS of all Army drinking water wells is being conducted by the U.S. Army Environmental Hygiene Agency USAEHA to supplement existing U.S. Army Toxic and Hazardous Materials Agency THAMA ground water quality data and detect potential drinking water quality problems. This proactive survey, using state of the art analytical methodologies, is providing baseline data for many uses. Data obtained from the survey to date have confirmed reports of contamination from past activities and shown that additional contamination sites may exist.
