Abstract:

This report presents the laboratory procedures and operation of the computer program IMPURE, which allows the operator to measure the mole percent purity of Standard Analytical Reference Materials SARMs. Melting point temperature, freezing point depression and heat of fusion are measured by differential scanning calorimetry DSC. These data are then used in vant Hoffs equation to determine molar purity. IMPURE was written to control the operation of the DSC and the analyses of the collected data according to American Society of Testing and Materials ASTM standards.
