Abstract:

The CORDIC Coordinate Rotation Digital Computer algorithm 1 computes certain functions such as the sine, cosine, and square root of x squared y squared using only additions and bit shifting operations. We have implemented an integer math CORDIC algorithm on a high speed RISC processor. During the course of this work, we identified a convergence problem with the square root of x squared y squared CORDIC. A solution to this problem is presented along with an overview of this algorithm.
