A computer simulation model of the U.S. Marine Corps Marine Expeditionary Forces high frequency and very high frequency voice radio system was developed. The models performance, under varying message traffic loads and jamming, was evaluated and compared to two computer models that incorporate telephone switching techniques to access multiple radio circuits. A radio circuit switch mathematical model was developed utilizing an Engset distribution for a telephone exchange to calculate the key parameters and verify the results of the simulation model. Based on the results of the simulation, the implementation of the proposed system is discussed with the goal of minimizing modifications to existing equipment and procedures.
