Research on the high temperature deformation processes and strengthening mechanisms in Intermetallic Particulate Composites is described. Work during the second year of the grant includes high temperature compression tests of Ni3A1-A12O3 composites mechanical alloying of Ni3Al Y2O3 transient deformation studies of the intermetallics Ni3Al, NiAl, and NiBe and development of a model of dislocation structure control of plastic deformation.
