Abstract:
It is often difficult to identify processes, mechanisms and causes of river bank erosion correctly in the field. An assessment sheet has been developed as an aid to field reconnaissance for this purpose. Because bank erosion problems are closely linked to broader sedimentation issues and sediment impacts, the sheets encompass information on all aspects of sedimentation assessment. The data collected are sufficient for bank stability models to be applied, and also could form the basis for qualitative analysis of channel stability problems as a precursor to the design of a stable geometry.
