Abstract:

Two transpiration cooled nosetips using propylene glycol as the coolant were fabricated by Aerojet and tested in the Arnold Engineering Development Center AEDC Track G Facility. The nosetips, SN G-10CT and G-11CT, used 347 stainless steel platelets and were hemispherical configurations, with nose radii of 0.65 inches and a 17 deg. conical base half angle. Thermal and recession test results are presented and the temperature data are compared to computer code temperature predictions. TTL
