Cooperative electronic excitation involving electron transfer among guest molecules in a solid is considered. The mutual interaction between two guest molecules with large dipole moments in excited states can lead to cooperative processes two-electron transfer which are forbidden in the absence of such interaction. The cooperative transition moments are calculated for coupled pairs of XeC1 molecules within an Ar matrix at sum and difference frequencies.
