Abstract:

The Ada Command Environment ACE is an interactive command language environment for Ada software development. Ada is both the programming language and the command language used within ACE. The paradigm and philosophy used by the Ada programmer during program development are extended into the environment in which program development takes place. ACE is modeled after other interactive programming environments, such as Smalltalk and Interlisp, which are touted for individual programmer productivity. Whereas other interactive programming environments are targeted toward programming-in-the-small, ACE supports programming-in-the-large techniques that are key elements of the Ada language. This document assumes the user has a basic understanding of the Ada language, including its concept and the use of Ada for software design and development. This document is not tutorial in nature with regards to the Ada language. The user is directed to one of the many texts on Ada or the Ada Language Reference Manual for background Ada. KR
