Abstract:

The purpose of this conference is to develop new directions, and highlight the awareness that the problems of corrosion in the military are far from over. There is a serious need for new approaches, methods and products for our aging weapon systems. Concepts like smart coatings, materials with artificial intelligence, sensors and electric field or electronic barriers for corrosion protection will become the technology of tomorrow. The paper published in this proceeding cover a wide variety of topics such as organic and inorganic coatings, inhibitors, environmental assisted cracking, new materials, electronics and EMI corrosion, measurement techniques, sensors and corrosion monitors, tribology, failure analysis, lessons learned, and others of general interest.
