Abstract:

This report describe the progress on the development of a new laser based combustion diagnostic for the quantitative measurement of both major and minor species in high pressure flames. The technique, Asynchronous Optical Sampling ASOPS, is a state of the art improvement in picosecond pumpprobe spectroscopy. Final results from the study of atomic sodium in an atmospheric flame are presented. The first ever UV pumpUV probe ASOPS signal for atomic indium is shown. Techniques for noise reduction are discussed along with initial results. jhd
