The environment which business faces today is much more competitive than in the past. Time-based competition is a new competitive strategy through which businesses may gain competitive advantage. Since this strategy is new, there is little information available to managers who are contemplating use of this strategy. Six case studies of time-based competitors are presented and discussed. This thesis had three thrusts. The first was to place time-based competition in current works and models of competitive strategy. Time-based strategy was determined to be a strategic thrust. The second thrust was to identify and validate which elements of time-based strategy are important andor relevant to time-based competitors. The third thrust was to determine the importance of information technologies IT to time-based competition. This thrust also sought information of how time-based competitors support their time thrust by IT. kr
