Abstract:

We investigated the possible sites of biosynthesis of that pool of acetylcholine ACh responsible for the global cerebrovascular vasodilation elicited by electrical stimulation of the cerebellar fastigial nucleus FN in anesthetized, paralyzed rats. Sites of ACh biosynthesis were identified immunocytochemically by mapping the distribution of the ACh biosynthetic enzyme choline acetyltransferase ChAT by light and electron microscopic immunocytochemistry.
