Working within the sponsorship and authority of the Naval Electronics Engineering Activity, Pacific NEEACTPAC, personnel of the Harry Diamond Laboratories HDL evaluated the performance of a prototype signal entrance enclosure exposed to transient signals related to high-altitude electromagnetic pulse HEMP. This report discusses the prototype enclosure design, supporting laboratory experiments, and data analysis, such as 1 shielding effectiveness, 2 degree of transient suppression as provided by internal terminal protection device TPD circuits, 3 response to high transient current levels, and 4 discrepancies and methods for improvements.
