Abstract:

Every major Air Force acquisition program has a requirement to make the most cost-effective repair level decisions for all system components. The MITRE Network Repair Level Analysis NRLA program calculates these best decisions on the basis of input cost factors provided by a separate program- specific life cycle cost LCC model, such as the Joint STARS LCC model. In contrast, the standard AFLC NRLA Model incorporates a built-in, generic LCC model which makes simplifying assumptions that do not apply to many Air Force systems, e.g., that equipment deployments and maintenance capabilities at all base locations are identical. Thus the MITRE NRLA program provides the capability to determine repair level decisions based on more accurate input cost factors in cases where a program-specific LCC model exists. kr
